Vintage commercial lounge armchair
Made 1966 by Wycombe Furniture, Geelong.
This is a highly individual unique armchair, being an industrial commercial piece of furniture from the 1960s. Because of this, it is of excellent build quality, with a great solid dark oak frame that encases the seating.
It has been fully restored throughout with new upholstery, new webbing and restored wood. This chair has been brought into the modern day with a two-tone upholstery fabric, one a dark grey/blue and the other a cream white. These fabrics contrast each other, but bring about a modern contemporary look that allows this great piece of retro design to sit nicely within a modern home.
This is an unusually wide armchair, but quite low to the ground making it an interesting shape, it is also very firm to sit on with memory foam rear backrest.
Stamped as shown in the picture, reads- Wycombe Furniture Geelong, which no longer exists. The stamp is also marked at it’s exact manufacture date- 31st May 1966. This in turn is quite a rare thing to see on old furniture like this.
