Rare Italian Memphis cantilever chair.
Polflex was founded in 1938 by Italian upholsterer Francesco Urbani. The company went on to design cutting edge furniture made from metal. This particular design was created much later in 1984, right within the period of Milano's Memphis era.
Both a rear back sling and seat sling are constructed from hardened hide leather fitted around a tubular steel frame. Pulled together by various springs under the seat which is joined with a metal bracket, this makes for a very strong & durable chair design.
Leather is wrapped around the arms and the joins finished with a large top over-stitch detailed in black edging.
Overall condition is consistent with age. All defects have been photographed. There is the usual wear and tear as expected with some some wear on the front of the leather, however this item presents very well.
These chairs have been part restored. The spring under-section has been re-done; incorporating eyelets for longevity.
Leather has been conditioned & cleaned.
There are a few scratches to the metal work.
