The SP9 chair from 1932 has been attributed as a design from Russian born Serge Chermayeff, who was an English architect and designer. This particular design from PEL was known in the UK to be a commission for the BBC (British Broadcasting Centre).
Design-
Art Deco in style, this chair is beautifully ergonomic with large bowed arms, wide seat and back rest. Being a cantilever design, it has a spring to it when is use.
Condition-
Overall condition is consistent with age. Recently reupholstered in aged tan leather to compliment its heritage with brass studs on the back to finish as a fine detail. As pictured, this chair has corrosion to most of the frame, however this only adds to its antiqueness, honesty and beauty of the design and being nearly a century old. Frame holds strong with new rubber feet added to the base. All defects have been photographed.
