Design/ origin- The original owner purchased this piece on the 7th Feb 1968 for their newly built house by Merchant Builders, which was designed by Graem Guun, and was finished on the 8th of March 1967.
The lounge setting was purchased from Featherston Interiors, who at the time were located in their Melbourne CBD store on Latrobe St. They received assistance from the showroom manager, Ian Blake,
During this time, William Latchford & Sons of Melbourne were under license producing the designs of Danish furniture designer Jens Risom. Latchford was making licensed versions of the Ludwig Mies van de Rohe's Barcelona chair and the likes of American designer, Eero Saarinen.
As this lounge setting is not stamped by the makers, it's attributed as a Jens Risom design but is most certainly by William Latchford.
Condition- This setting is great original condition. It has been recently steam cleaned. The Black Bean timber legs have been removed and then oil cleaned and returned. The only minor defect is a small section on the left-hand side of the sofa.
On the reverse of the cushions, there are some old spot stains that did not come out, however the top cushion fabric is in great condition, some very minor discolouration can be found
This item presents close to what it did back in Featherston Interiors showroom in 1968.
