A mid century armchair / side chair, restored Blackbean timber with original patterned green vinyl upholstery.
Unknown maker/ designer. Australia c,1960s.
Featured in the Melbourne Design Week - NGV restoration workshop in March 2022.

Design/ origin-
Commercial furniture from the 1960s, with outstanding craftsmanship and quality materials. This is a rare example due to the condition of the original upholstery.
Manufacturer is unknown. Similar period chairs were being made from Sweden, Denmark & the USA with the likes of Karl Erik Ekselius, Ib Kofod Larsen & Jens Risom to name a few.
There were multiple manufactures in Australia all producing chairs of this kind for the commercial and domestic market. Stylecraft, Decro, William Latchford & sons, TH Brown and so on.
Chair is a stamped by- PSB-VIC.
Condition-
Sympathetically restored to keep as original as possible. Great condition green vinyl, almost like new. The chair has been re-webbed with a new foam cushion.
Blackbean hardwood timber, also known as 'Moreton Bay chestnut'. Busting full of colour and character which has been fully restored with natural wax sealer oil.
Only two defects, small hole at the front on the seat and slight snag at the top back-rest. See pictures.
