Set of six bamboo & cane dining chairs by Paul Frankl - Austria / America.
Supplied by Johnsons Furniture Company, New York c,1954.
Original condition. Vibrant cane & bamboo construction.

Design/ origin-
Paul Frankl needs no introduction. Art Deco furniture craftsman and architect, often using mixed media in the furniture construction which could be regarded as art. Most commonly known in Australia for the Pretzel lounge.
(A large Art Deco style armchair/ lounge, with massive exaggerated bowed arms).
These chairs were matched with an extension dining table, also listed on our site.
Both pieces were imported by the last owner during their trip from the US in the mid 1950s. Where they were purchased from Johnsons Furniture Company, NY. Who were the only company to supply and sell Frankl's furniture at the time.
These are exceptionally unique, rare and of very high quality.
Condition-
Oil cleaned recently, bamboo frame and cane hand-woven seats. Highlights of brass nails can be seen in these chairs.
A few have water damage marks on the feet, as pictured.
There are the usual marks, knocks as expected. Some loose / missing areas to the cane seats.
Frames hold strong and are light-weight and durable.
