Pair of rare antique Thonet Bentwood dining chairs. With embossed Crocodile skin patterned plywood detail. Poland, Europe. c1930.
Dimensions-
880 h x 390 w x 490 d mm
465 seat h mm
Design/ origin-
A unique and rare pair of Bentwood chairs. Petite size for the narrow street cafes of Europe.
These chairs have all the age and character you would expect from a genuine antique piece. Original finish which has left a cracked glaze effect and plenty of old knocks.
Both chairs are stamped on the base with a paper plaque and embossed stamp.
Condition-
Overall condition is consistent with age. Oil and waxed recently.
There are the usual wear and tear as expected. An old repair on one of the top back-rest rails can be seen.
Both seats hold strong. However one has lost much of it's embossed detail, with a few raised areas.
Chairs hold firm, but like any Bentwood, a little wobbly.
