Design/ origin- A Post-modern take on the traditional early 20th century club lounge. Designed much like that of a chesterfield sofa, scaled down into a compact size. Great for modern living environments.
A. Citterio produced a range throughout the 1970s and 1980s of similar style sofas and matching armchairs, called "Hockney". They were all slightly different, but were distinctive of his style due to the twist on the traditional lounge. The designs used straight edges and contrasting rounded legs and details, combined with leather colours which were very modern at the time.
This sofa has a wide comfortable deep seat and low back, making it suitable for central positioning in modern or classic settings.
The main feature is the exposed solid Beech timber legs at the front. Slightly curved at the top to highlight the posture of the rolled arm-rests. Heavy over stitching on the leather can be seen throughout this well produced piece.
Condition- Overall condition is very good for it's age. Most defects have been photographed. There are the usual wear and tear as expected, there is a small damaged area on one arm and knocks and scratches on both arms as pictured.
One cushion has a large old scratch, but has not penetrated through. Scratches can be found on the rear, seat sides and back rest.
The entire sofa has been meticulously cleaned and leather conditioned. As you can see this item presents very well.
