Rattan Lounge Armchair
Mid-century lounge armchair with rattan armrest and iron hairpin legs, re-covered in Sunbury Deco style pattern upholstery.
An extreme re-designed and restored piece of furniture.
This armchair was been completely restored from the bottom up, with an interesting choice of fabric from Sunbury Textiles (NYC) in this great Deco style pattern.
The original timber legs have been removed and replaced with iron atomic hairpin legs, to give this chair yet another interesting style.
Another feature on this chair is that the fixtures holding the armrests are large protruding bolts, giving the element of it's industrial past, and instead of hiding the fixings, I have enhanced them.
The hardwood timber has also been restored, cleaned, nourished and made beautiful once more, retaining it's quirky rattan wicker armrests. Rattan armrest would have been an unusual feature of this chair back when it was made, so it was important to keep it an important part of it's design.
