Alcove Highback Sofa by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra. C,2009
Exceptional design with exceptional quality.
Without doubt the best on the market- 'great condition'.
Alcove Highback Sofa by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra. C,2009.
- In luxurious thick weave chocolate dark brown upholstery option.
- Including four top loose scatter cushions.
Multi-functional piece of design. Converts into five different chair options. Tried and tested. Comfortable, compact, bold and stylish. One of my personal favourite pieces of contemporary design.
The quality and design reminds me very much of the LC3 sofa by Le Corbusier, with a solid chromed metal frame exterior neatly holding firm box cushions.
The sofa folds down into the various components. Large side and back upholstered panels, lock cleverly with zips on each side. A quick release with hex bolts at the base and the panels remove easily. Making a completely different sofa, much like a daybed.
Vitra puts it-
"The defining concept behind the Alcove product family – creating places of shelter and seclusion – is especially pronounced in the Alcove Highback Sofa: tucked away within its high side and back panels, the user is shielded both visually and acoustically from the surrounding environment. It offers a space for withdrawal and privacy in a peaceful oasis".
