A little bit of background & history-
Edwin is a multidisciplinary skilled restorer & artisan, with an educational history in Fine Art with a First Class Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Graphic Communication. Edwin also has a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in traditional upholstery. More recently Edwin has channelled his skills and energy into the physical aspects of design, whereby his career has now evolved into the art of furniture restoration.
Originally from Bristol, UK the home of Banksy, Massive Attack, Darth Vader & Wallace & Gromit. Edwin has creativity in his blood and has been around artists & creative people his whole life.
Edwin currently runs a small independent business restoring & selling furniture & lighting here in Melbourne. He hopes that through his work, he can connect the importance of sustainability, reducing waste while working with incredible items of our past.
Edwin also is involved with educational workshops around Melbourne and has been apart of the NGV’s Melbourne Design Week four years running. Edwin has worked along side other collaborative educational events and has been involved with; the Robin Boyd Foundation and is an active partner with not-for-profit, mid century heritage group, Beaumaris Modern. Edwin is also part of Melbourne’s long standing cornerstone for furniture design buyers, the Smith St Bazaar, in Fitzroy.
Edwin wishes to further his pursuit in teaching to a larger audience, the importance of - why we should repair & reuse.
“I love art & hate waste”, it is with this mantra Edwin is trying to build a greater awareness and community around pre-owned and well designed furniture & objects.
