An impressive rare & decorative Kannon-Baraki (cupboard on chest).
Japan, Meiji period c,1870. Fully restored condition.
Paulownia/ Kiri pine timber construction, with iron hardware throughout. Including a lower lockable safe / jewellery storage.
Chest stacks on top of each other and can also be used as two low chests.
Top half has two front hinged doors, with sliding lock, protecting two large internal drawers. Originally used for personal possessions & clothing.
This is a rare collector's piece and functions wonderfully as a contemporary piece of furniture.
